SCHUYLERVILLE, N.Y. (December 6, 2019) — Glens Falls National Bank and Trust Company is pleased to announce that its Schuylerville Office raised more than $9,700 for Schuylerville Area Food and Emergency Relief (SAFER) as part of its recent Community Day events.
This is the ninth year that Branch Manager Dave Penzer and staff have held fundraising activities to support SAFER. In that time, more than $50,000 has been raised to purchase food from the Northeast Regional Food Bank for the food pantry, to help fund the Schuylerville Central School backpack program, and to support holiday meal purchases for local families and individuals.
During November’s Community Day event at the Schuylerville Office, volunteers from SAFER and the community were recognized by retired NYRA Announcer and Master of Ceremonies Marshall Cassidy. The Community Day included visits from members of the Schuylerville Senior Citizens and National Honor Students from Schuylerville Central School with teachers Chris Tucker and Dave Mehan. Schuylerville Elementary School Principal Rose Beckett and Superintendent Ryan Sherman were instrumental in the day’s success.
Andrew Jennings’ second-grade class enjoyed music with Chelsie Henderson of Rural Soul Studio and a book reading with Caitlin Johnson, director of Schuylerville Public Library. Music was provided by TenPenny Bit and many area restaurants, artisans and community members donated to the fundraiser.
